(AU) Chapter 4: Dire Warnings
A moment he hovered, watching the hunt unfold. Then, down, down, hurtling toward the unsuspecting trees and foothills below, and passing them—passing through them—like half a hurricane. He might almost have been an avalanche on that hillside, for how potently he swept over.
The force in his speed was edged nigh dangerous. He could feel it. But he dared not slow down. Not when they were so close.
In his haste, Azarias nearly lost sight of his quarry. Only nearly. But he caught again a glimpse of the dark and dappled steed, some ways ahead, and the pale charger behind. His wisped form came alongside the latter rider. His partner gave him a glance. Then, “Yah!” and Wayland spurred his horse on, outmatching the spirit.
